The Best New One Piece Staples to Collect Post-Rotation

The One Piece Card Game saw a massive shakeup earlier this month, as its first four sets of cards rotated out of the game's Standard format—freeing up design space for new strategies and combos. With many of the game's original staples now rotated or banned, a new crop is coming up to take their place, and we've seen many of them emerge within the last few sets.
Here are the new best staple cards in One Piece, from fresh entries that bring their own power spikes, to solid cards from older sets that are just now seeing popularity thanks to the ascendancy of new strategies.
Blue
OP13-042 Edward Newgate
Product Details
[On Play] Draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. Then, give your Leader and 1 Character up to 2 rested DON!! cards each.
Marketplace price trend
A 12000-power blocker is already a force to be reckoned with when you pay 10 DON!! for it. This OP-13 menace—which draws 2 and trashes 1 on play while attaching 4 rested DON!! to a Character and your Leader—is both hand-neutral and effectively playable for just six DON!! cards.
PRB02-008 Marco
Product Details
[On K.O.] Draw 2 cards.
Marketplace price trend
As a 4-cost 6000-power Character, Marco already has a premium stat line. But it's his draw 2 [On K.O.] effect that makes him a staple—a premium anti-aggro option that can easily widen the card advantage gap against most opponents.
OP07-045 Jinbe
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
Jinbe is back from his premature retirement, and while turbo-go-wide strategies aren't as rare as they were when this OP-07 classic was banned, a free body with a ton of Warlord synergies is still highly relevant in today's game.
OP10-045 Cavendish
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
A premium 4-cost 6000-power Character that draws 2 and trashes 1 on attack is obviously strong, but it also brings much-needed early-game board presence to blue decks, which is why it's spiked in price despite being just a Rare.
OP15-047 Sanji
Product Details
[On Play] Up to 1 of your Characters gains [Unblockable] during this turn.
(This card cannot be blocked.)
Marketplace price trend
A 3-cost blocker that can make anything unblockable on play is unprecedented in One Piece. A must-have for blue players.
Yellow
EB04-058 Borsalino
Product Details
[On Play] If you have 2 or less Life cards, add up to 1 card from the top of your deck to the top of your Life cards.
Marketplace price trend
Just a couple months ago, the 6-cost, 7000-power SEC Bartholomew Kuma was considered an essential yellow card for its on-play heal effect, which required you to trash a card as a cost. Borsalino's heal is free, his body is only 1000 power lower, and he has <Blocker>.
EB03-053 Nami
Product Details
[On K.O.] You may turn 1 card from the top of your Life cards face-up: Play up to 1 Character card with 6000 power or less from your hand.
Marketplace price trend
One of the brightest stars of EB-03, Nami is one of the best things a yellow deck can possibly do on 5 DON!!.
OP15-119 Monkey.D.Luffy
Product Details
When your opponent activates an Event or [Blocker], reveal up to 1 card from the top of your Life cards. This Character gains +1000 power during this turn per 1 cost on the revealed card.
Marketplace price trend
Don't think of OP-15's SEC Luffy as just a solid rusher—he's a wrecking ball. Drop him on board, swing your other bodies, and dare your opponent to block or counter with an Event. It'll only make him stronger.
OP15-113 Roronoa Zoro
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
While it's not as premium a healing option as Borsalino, the ability to heal for just 4 DON!! can often mean the difference between stabilizing a game and folding to aggression.
EB03-055 Nico Robin
Product Details
[Opponent's Turn] [On K.O.] You may deal 1 damage to your opponent.
Marketplace price trend
Now that Gum-Gum Red Roc is gone, this card is basically a free heal attached to an 8000-power body that can't be (easily) removed.
Purple
OP15-078 Mamaragan
Product Details
[Counter] Up to 1 of your Leader or Character cards gains +1000 power during this battle. Then, if you have 6 or less DON!! cards on your field, draw 1 card.
Marketplace price trend
Since most of OP-15 Enel's cards are conditional on being at 6 DON!! or less, they're not great staple candidates. Mamaragan, however, is a massive exception: it's a card- and cost-neutral counter when at or below 6 DON!!, and a card- and cost-neutral rest event when used at 10 DON!!.
P-107 Gol.D.Roger
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
Cards that boost Leaders to 7000 power are all the rage these days, and Gol D. Roger is purple's go-to way to do it.
OP13-076 Divine Departure
Product Details
[Counter] You may trash 1 card from your hand: Up to 1 of your Leader or Character cards gains +3000 power during this battle.
Marketplace price trend
0-cost counter Events will always have their use cases, but this one doubles as a massive 8000-power debuff to an opponent's Character.
EB01-061 Mr.2.Bon.Kurei(Bentham)
Product Details
[When Attacking] Select up to 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character's base power becomes the same as the selected Character's power during this turn.

Marketplace price trend
After all these years, Bon Clay is still the premium ramp option for purple decks.
Red
EB04-007 Roronoa Zoro
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
The ability to boost any red Leader's power by 2000 makes this an automatic premium card. It's pushed into near-broken territory by its added (albeit conditional) Character:Rush ability.
OP13-016 Monkey.D.Garp
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
It may be locked to Luffy, Sabo, and Ace Leaders, but this searcher's ability to find any card costing 3 or more makes it a go-to option for late-game consistency.
OP13-007 Ace & Sabo & Luffy
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
Remember Gordon and Building Snake, the counterless staples of yesteryear that gave an opponent's Character -3000 power if you bottom-decked them? Ace & Sabo & Luffy do pretty much the same thing while attaching a DON!! to your Leader and also offering +2000 counter power.
OP09-004 Shanks
Product Details
[Rush] (This card can attack on the turn in which it is played.)
Disclaimer: This card was reprinted from the original set with changes to the copyright information (Note: the original print did not include "EN" at the end of the copyright).
Marketplace price trend
Here's a throwback. With all the go-wide strategies in the game at the moment, the ability to give your opponent's entire board -1000 power is stronger than ever, and it's giving this classic a new moment in the sun.
Green
OP14-027 Shanks
Product Details
[Opponent's Turn] If this Character is rested, give all of your opponent's Characters 1000 power.
Marketplace price trend
The fact that most decks can't take advantage of this card's power on the turn it's played makes it slightly less powerful than OP-14 Mihawk, but that doesn't stop its ceiling from being color-definingly high.
OP13-031 Trafalgar Law
Product Details
[On Play] You may return 1 of your Characters to the owner's hand: Play up to 1 Character card with a cost of 5 or less from your hand rested.
Marketplace price trend
It bounces for value, summons for swarm, and blocks. Need we say more?
OP14-119 Dracule Mihawk
Product Details
[On Your Opponent's Attack] [Once Per Turn] You may trash 1 card from your hand: Up to 1 of your Leader or Character cards gains +2000 power during this battle.
Marketplace price trend
It turns out, making your entire hand into potential +2000-power counters is pretty strong. Bonus points if your deck can rest it on the turn it's played.
OP15-032 Brook
Product Details
[Activate: Main] You may trash this Character: If your Leader has the {Straw Hat Crew} type, set up to 1 of your Characters with a base cost of 8 or less as active.
Marketplace price trend
It's good that this card is Leader-locked to Straw Hat Crew decks, because if every green deck could run it, they probably would. Resting your opponent's cards while re-standing your own is simply too good.
OP08-036 Electrical Luna
Product Details
[Trigger] Rest up to 1 of your opponent's Characters.
Marketplace price trend
Now that removal has been nerfed into the ground, the ability to freeze the enemy's board is key in One Piece, and Electrical Luna remains the best card for doing so.
Black
OP15-086 Nami
Product Details
Marketplace price trend
With the ability to play a Straw Hat character from your trash and give it <Rush>, this card's value ceiling is nearing OP-06 Moria levels. Unlike Moria, however, she's locked to Straw Hat Leaders.
OP14-096 Ground Death
Product Details
[Counter] If you have 10 or more cards in your trash, up to 1 of your Leader or Character cards gains +4000 power during this battle.
Marketplace price trend
What do you get when you mix an easy-to-meet condition with a 1-cost 4000-power counter Event and an effect-negation ability? One of the best cards in the black color, and arguably in One Piece itself.
OP14-120 Crocodile
Product Details
[On K.O.] You may trash 1 card from your hand: Play this Character card from your trash.
Marketplace price trend
No other deck can take advantage of SEC Crocodile quite like its parent deck, but even on its own terms this is a game-changer that we expect will find plenty more use cases in coming sets.
OP15-085 Tony Tony.Chopper
Product Details
[Activate: Main] You may trash this Character: If your Leader has the {Straw Hat Crew} type, add up to 1 {Straw Hat Crew} type Character card other than [Tony Tony.Chopper] from your trash to your hand.
Marketplace price trend
Searching your top 5 cards is cool, but Chopper gets to search your whole trash for a Straw Hat Character.
OP15-092 Monkey.D.Luffy
Product Details
• If there are 10 or more cards, this Character's base power becomes 9000 and it gains +10 cost.
• If you have 20 or more cards, during your opponent's turn, your Leader's base power becomes 7000.
• If you have 30 or more cards, this Character gains +1000 power.
Marketplace price trend
A Luffy card that single-handedly proves the axiom: more card text = more good. If you can get 20 cards in your trash, this card is nuts. If you can get 30 in there, it's even better.
