Marketplace price trend

Even still, prices are shifting quite a bit with this set; both players and collectors are excited for all these new cards. Having a whole set themed after characters like Silvers Rayleigh, Sanji, Zoro, as well as other fan-favorite characters, you have something really cool.

These are the cards that have been at the top end of the set since we were in the prerelease window, and I think they'll continue to stay way up there.

The first of the cards that we're going to look at is one of the two most anticipated alternate-art Leaders in the set: Silvers Rayleigh. The Dark King himself finally gets his own Leader card with a really unique rule attached to it. If you choose to build a deck around Rayleigh, you can't include any cards that cost 5 or more in your deck. That means the highest cost card you can play is only 4! Heck, you can't even include Silvers Rayleigh (OP08-118) in your deck, because it has a cost of 8!

Aside from playability, this card is up there because it features both Rayleigh and Luffy on the artwork. Add in the fact that alternate-art leaders are some of the most sought after cards in One Piece, it kind of makes sense that this one is as high as it is in the set!

Dracule Mihawk has been a cooler-than-cool character since he was introduced back in the first season of One Piece. Before the Straw Hats even made their way to the Grand Line, Mihawk was there to stop them in their tracks.

Mihawk has appeared on and off throughout the series, only really serving as an antagonist during the East Blue saga and during the Paramount War at Marineford. Dracule Mihawk (OP12-030) being super playable also adds to its value overall, as it will see a ton of play in just about any Green deck aside from Monkey.D.Luffy (EB02-010)

#8 Tashigi (SP)

Tashigi (OP06-050) is back and cooler than ever as one of the SP cards in the set. SP cards are some of the hardest ones to pull in any set because you have 6+ SP cards, and usually only one or two of them will pop up in a case. A CASE. So they're roughly one-in-six-boxes.

This Tashigi is also a searcher for Navy decks, so with the unbanning of Sakazuki, I can understand why this card is even more popular than it was before! It helps too that Tashigi is a popular character, especially after seeing her personality develop more toward the end of Alabasta and Punk Hazard.

#7-#4 Four-Way Tie

So uhh. This is new. There are four cards in Legacy of the Master (OP12) with Market Prices that are all within a dollar of each other. At time of writing, each of these cards is around the $70 mark, making them all in a four-way tie for the 4th most expensive cards in the set.

Let's look at these cards two at a time, starting with another SP card and an Alternate Art Secret Rare:

Portgas.D.Ace (SP) and Bartholomew Kuma (Alternate Art)

Ace is one of the most popular characters in the whole franchise, despite only being in the series for a little bit—everybody seems to love Luffy's oldest brother. He was the first person we saw to have the Flame-Flame Fruit and has remained in our hearts ever since. This card is absolutely gorgeous. The new artwork in this reprint of Portgas.D.Ace (ST13-011) is super simple, but the colors on it absolutely pop with the visual of the card design.

The alternate-art Bartholomew Kuma (OP12-119) is the next card in our four-way tie. This card is awesome and shows Kuma in the middle of battle, sending out his signature Ursa Shock move. This is one of the best Yellow cards to be printed in a while. Giving any Yellow deck the ability to gain potentially two Life is insane. It also has a respectable 7000 power, which makes it a force to be reckoned with, as it chips away at your opponent's card economy.

Roronoa Zoro (Alternate Art) and "Dead Man's Game" (Alternate Art)

Next up, we have two different Zoro cards. You have the alternate-art Roronoa Zoro Leader card and the mouthful Event card based on one of his strongest attacks. The coolest thing about this, in my opinion, is the fact that the alternate-art Zoro Leader is the artwork for the set itself. This isn't something we've seen since OP-01. Green Zoro is actually expected to be the best deck to come out of Legacy of the Master (OP12), so the expensive price tag for the Leader card just makes sense.

As for Demon Aura Nine Sword Style Asura Blades Drawn Dead Man's Game, this card is essential for the Zoro deck—and even for many Green decks in general, since it rests any two things you want. The artwork on the alternate art is also amazing, as we see Zoro do something that was previously only done by Kouzuki Oden: cut Kaido.

#3 Zoro-Juurou (SP)

Thanks to that lovely four-way tie, we are down to the top three! What do you know, though, we have yet another Zoro card… kinda. This one is Zoro-Juurou! This is a reprint of Zoro-Juurou (ST18-004), which has pretty much become a staple in Purple Straw Hat decks. Also, the artwork is amazing. Plus, it is a chance to see Zoro shrouded in PURPLE of all colors, something we aren't used to seeing, but I can totally dig it.

#2 Jewelry Bonney (Manga)

Our Manga Rare for Legacy of the Master (OP12) is Jewelry Bonney (OP12-118)! The captain of the Bonney Pirates and Bartholomew Kuma's adopted daughter graces us with an amazing manga-rarity card. This card shows Bonney right as she is starting her adventure as a pirate, with a bunch of clips from the manga behind her showcasing some of her most important moments from the Egghead arc.

Manga rares are some of the rarest cards in the One Piece Card Game. There is no estimated ratio on how often they can get pulled. The general idea is that you should expect NOT to pull a manga. That way, you're even more surprised when you do! Just make sure you have a sleeve ready!

#1 Marshall.D.Teach (SP) (Gold and Silver)

Finally, the most expensive card in this set isn't even a manga; it is the two Marshall.D.Teach (OP09-093) SP anniversary cards!

These cards are about as hard to pull as a manga rare, but they're significantly more expensive. The Gold SP version of Marshall.D.Teach (OP09-093) is the most expensive card in Legacy of the Master (OP12), while the Silver one comes right behind it.

A Fist of Divine Speed (OP11) had the Gold and Silver Monkey.D.Luffy that are well over $1000 each, but that's Luffy in his Gear 5 upgrade. Blackbeard isn't as important as Luffy for One Piece, so it makes sense that this anniversary pick isn't as expensive as its predecessor.

All-in-all, Legacy of the Master (OP12) is a huge set filled with a ton of good hits for both collectors and players. You know a set is good when one of the Secret Rares barely misses the Top 10 list by about $10. Honestly, though, with two powerful decks coming out of this set, and the other four Leaders all being fan-favorite characters, this set has so much going for it!
