The 10 Cards Everybody Wants from The Azure Sea's Seven

The One Piece Card Game closed out 2025 with back-to-back blockbuster sets. Premium Booster -The Best- Vol. 2 and Carrying On His Will drew hype to the game like never before, leading to runaway singles prices and memes about scalpers trading in their Pokémon assets to chase the new hotness.

After that kind of success, you might expect Bandai to phone it in with their next set.

But the hits keep coming. If OP-13 erased the previous metagame from history, The Azure Sea's Seven is here to rebuild by introducing the first new Leaders who can go toe-to-toe with Imu (OP13-079) and Ace (OP13-002)

And players aren't the only ones anxious to get their hands on the new set. In order to help western territories catch up with the Japanese releases so that future sets can have a unified release schedule, The Azure Sea's Seven contains an extra helping of cards: all of OP-14, plus half of EB-04, which hasn't even appeared in Japanese yet. That means more chase cards competing for the same limited number of slots in packs.

So what's everyone hoping to open from this double-stuffed set? Take a look and see. These are the 10 cards everybody wants from The Azure Sea's Seven.

There's plenty of fish in the sea, and plenty of powerful alt-art cards in The Azure Sea's Seven. Rosinante & Law (EB04-038), Crocodile (OP14-120), Jinbe (EB04-015), Ms. All Sunday (OP14-084), and Nefeltari Vivi (EB04-025) all have strong cases for why they should appear on this list.

But I have to give our first spot to Carrot (EB04-013) for that insane On Play ability. When everything lines up just right, that one ability can double your attacks for the turn, turning an even game into a lopsided affair that your opponent will struggle to recover from—especially when you've suddenly got a new 9k Character on your field. Things get even more ridiculous if you chain the first Carrot into a second one.

Because EB-04 hasn't released in Japan, we don't have any hard data on whether this strategy can work in competition. But I'm optimistic for the future of Carrot (OP08-021). This card raises the deck's power by one tier at the very least, and possibly more than that.

When you put Nami on a card wearing a giant pirate hat, you can be sure that card's going to sell. But Nami's more than a pretty face, and there's more to this card than the fact that it features the most popular female character in the franchise.

For a cost about two resources higher than you'd expect to pay for a 2K blocker, Nami rests two of your opponent's characters and then sets up to five of your DON!! cards active at the end of your turn—meaning you could end up with more open DON!! during your opponent's turn than when you started. Of course, you need some way to make use of that DON!!, but that's what counter Events and Leader abilities are for. [Monkey.D.Luffy OP13-001] in particular loves having DON!! up, and with his ability to boost Straw Hat Crew cards, he can turn Nami into an unbreakable wall to protect any of your non-Straw Hat characters.

Red/Green Luffy might not carve a niche for itself in the coming format, but if it does, this card could become the most-chased Super Rare in the set. Until then, Nami OP14-031 will "just" be a super collectible card with a modestly high price tag. Nami would be so disappointed.

In the East Blue Saga, Zoro is depicted as an unbeatable swordsman without equal… right up until Dracule Mihawk shows up and humiliates him with a cheese knife. Now the same dynamic is playing out in the One Piece Card Game. Roronoa Zoro (OP12-020) has been the premier green deck since it debuted in Legacy of the Master, but Dracule Mihawk (OP14-020) clowns on that deck with Mihawk's ability to punish any other Leader who dares have the Slash attribute in his presence.

And the new Dracule Mihawk (OP14-119) Character gives that deck its top-end finisher. By resting this Character with Mihawk's Leader ability, you can immediately lock down an opponent's Character and ready three of the DON!! you used to play it, freeing you up to boost Tashigi (OP14-029) or hold up counter Events. Don't have any? No problem, Mihawk turns any card in your hand into Counter!

The new Boa Hancock (OP14-041) Leader only has 4 Life, but don't even think about trying to race her. If you do, Boa Hancock (OP14-112) will look down on you with so much disdain you won't be able to see her face.

This card does everything Boa wants to do. In the early game, its Trigger effect lets you drop Gorgon Sisters into play for free and draw an extra card with Boa's Leader Ability. In the late game, it heals you while putting your opponent one hit closer to death so that your army of Amazon Lily Characters can seal the deal.

This card is, yes… beautiful.

All seven of the Leader cards from OP-14 have alternate-art versions that'll you'll be glad to see staring back at you anytime you open a booster pack.

Of the seven, Boa Hancock and Dracule Mihawk are expected to see the most play, which means more players will be seeking them out in particular. But Dofla, Mihawk, Moria, Jinbe, and Law all have fans of their own, so if you pull any of them, you won't have to look too far for an interested buyer. Or, you can take the hint from the universe and build the deck yourself for max style points.

The Azure Sea's Seven also includes what Bandai calls "alternate art Event cards," even though the illustrations are the same images from the One Piece manga that you'll find on the base-rarity versions of these Events. Semantics aside, the foiling on these special versions absolutely pops, and they're rare enough that you should expect to pay significantly more to own one of them.

Ground Death negates more or less any Character's effects when combined with Crocodile (OP14-079)'s ability to reduce costs on demand, and You'll Frighten Me… wrecks havoc on opponents' combat math while triggering Boa Hancock (OP14-041)'s card draw. They're both four-ofs in their respective decks, and with Boa poised to debut as a real meta contender, you should expect the alternate-art version of You'll Frighten Me… to be so valuable it's downright scary.

One Piece sets typically include a selection of reprints from earlier sets with new art. In the case of The Azure Sea's Seven, these SP cards come in two flavors, depending on whether they were designed for OP-14 or EB-04.

The three SP cards from EB-04 don't have too much to recommend them competitively. Edward Weevil (EB01-023) has been largely power-crept out of the game, Eustass"Captain"Kid (EB04-039) is untested but not particularly impressive. Roronoa Zoro (PRB02-006) is the exception since it's being played in Dracule Mihawk (OP14-020).

That said, they all look incredible, and the art on Kid and Zoro together with those characters' popularity ensures these will be treasured collectibles.

The OP-14 SP cards all feature a flat background that folks in our office have compared to Moroccan motifs and Persian rugs—either way, they're universally fantastic. These cards are also generally stronger than the SP reprints associated with EB-04.

We've already covered Boa Hancock, arguably the best card in the set in terms of pure power. Kid & Killer (EB01-003) remains a staple of red aggro decks like Silvers Rayleigh (OP12-001), Dracule Mihawk (OP12-030) is stupid good in any decks that can squeeze him in, and Sengoku (OP07-046) has new homes in decks led by Boa Hancock and Jinbe. Sugar (OP10-065) and Perona (OP06-093) make perfect sense in the new Leaders Donquixote Doflamingo (OP14-060) and Gecko Moria (OP14-080), respectively.

These will be among the most valuable and desirable cards in The Azure Sea's Seven, no question.

The centerpiece of most One Piece sets is its Manga Rare (now officially called a "super alternate art card"). The greatest swordsman in the world finally has a card worthy of his legend.

We've already talked about Dracule Mihawk (OP14-119) earlier on this list, but considering how the Manga Rare is currently listed for a price two orders of magnitude higher than its other two versions, I feel safe treating this like an entirely separate card. Opening it entitles you to a solid minute of everyone else in the game store hollering with envy while they clap you on the back.

It's an experience you can only get from one (maybe two) other cards in the set. Speaking of which...

Seven months later, the cycle has reached its conclusion with the final Emperor, Buggy. Given the value of the other silver Emperors, Silver Buggy will likely end up with a price tag somewhere in the mid-to-high three figures. Not bad for the living embodiment of fake-it-till-you-make-it.

As for Gold Buggy, the rarest card in The Azure Sea's Seven, you'll be lucky to find one on sale for less than a grand. If you pull it, that's probably your cue to trade it in to your LGS for store credit and pick up whatever else you need from The Azure Sea's Seven as singles.

Or you could buy another six booster boxes and roll the dice on opening another Buggy? You do you, I'm not your dad.
