Everything We Know (So Far) About One Piece TCG's Royal Blood (OP-10)

The big 1-0.

That's quite the accolade. Not every card game has the honor of making it all the way to double digits. Royal Blood (OP-10) should be seen as the arrival of the One Piece TCG's second year on the market; the game's tenth booster set is big and loud and... somehow back in time? I guess we're not in the business of doing things chronologically around here.

Royal Blood is set during the Punk Hazard arc; the twenty-sixth story arc, and the beginning of the Dressrosa Saga. That puts us way before our recent escapades in Emperors in the New World (OP-09), but arguably in an equally exciting moment of history. After all, Punk Hazard marked the first post-time skip appearance of Trafalgar Law and Donquixote Doflamingo and introduced us to the horrifying Caesar Clown.

As a booster set, Royal Blood (OP-10) looks to do a fantastic job of capturing all of the important plot points of Punk Hazard while also introducing a selection of powerful, competitive leaders that can hang with the best in the game. There's also a wealth of new themes, high-rarity collectibles, and jaw-dropping special rares hidden within.

Royal Blood (OP-10) releases in English on March 21, 2025. The set will be available through a mixture of individually sleeved booster packs and the traditional style of booster box.

The official breakdown for the Japanese set typically mirrors the Western release. As such, we're expecting to see the following distribution for the set:

  • 6 Leader Cards
  • 45 Common
  • 30 Uncommon
  • 26 Rare
  • 10 Super Rare
  • 6 Special Rare
  • 2 Secret Rare
  • 1 Treasure Rare
  • 1 DON!!! Card

Of course, please keep in mind that this composition isn't guaranteed until Royal Blood (OP-10) releases. Nothing is 100% until those booster packs are out in the wild!

What is the New Type in Royal Blood (OP10)?

They couldn't kick off Dressrosa without introducing the "Punk Hazard" type to the card game. You'll find tons of arc-specific characters and moments sporting this new tag, such as the body-swapped versions of Sanji (OP10-005) and Smoker (OP10-030). This culminates into two of the new Leader cards from the set — Smoker (OP10-001) and Caesar Clown (OP10-002), which heavily reward you for leaning into Punk Hazard characters.

If new flavors aren't your thing, don't panic. Royal Blood also offers much-needed support for the "Supernova", "Dressrosa", and "Donquixote Pirates" themes, which includes the latter appearing in new colors for the very first time. I'm particularly in love with Donquixote Doflamingo (OP10-071 SR ART), who stands to be pretty powerful and looks totally awesome doing it.

Who are the New Leaders in Royal Blood (OP-10)?

Royal Blood introduces six new leaders into the game, several of which have already showcased their prowess in Japanese tournaments. Even better, there's a new option for each and every color in the game — so regardless of what you enjoy, there's something in the set for you!

You can find a complete list of the new leaders below:

Usopp is easily the standout of this bunch. The iconic Straw Hat hasn't had a leader option before this set, and fans around the world will no doubt be ecstatic for a chance to play with long nose at the helm.  He also just so happens to fill the niche for a strong Dressrosa leader, which has led the deck to several impressive results since releasing in Japan.

It's a similar story for Eustass "Captain" Kid and Smoker, who have also been kicking butt on the other side of the globe. I'm very excited to see how all six leaders manage to match up in the West!

What are the Most Valuable Cards in Royal Blood (OP-10)?

Of course, prices differ massively across regions — but that doesn't mean we can't look towards Japan for a clearer idea of demand. Which shiny new squares have been selling their socks off so far?

The obvious hit is the Manga Alt Art of Trafalgar Law (OP10-119). Even though the card looks incredible in the flag-bearing secret rare, there's just something majestic about the scrawling manga panels of the higher rarity. It feels prestigious and important — and it's also worth a small fortune!

Hilariously, Law gets a ton of love in this set. His alternative artwork leader card (OP10-022 ALT) has also proved to be a bestseller... and I blame nobody. High-rarity leaders are always a chase item, and our friend here has the aura to cut a pickle with a spoon.

The rest of the heavy hitters are made up by the special rares. Edward Newgate (ST15-002 OP10 ALT) and Kamusari/Divine Departure (OP10-019 ALT) seem to have stolen most of the spotlight, but I absolutely need to own three Kuzan (OP10-082 ALT).

What are the Best Cards in Royal Blood (OP-10)?

In a game like One Piece, cards tend to see ebb and flow in popularity based on how popular a good-fitting leader is. The aforementioned Kuzan (OP10-082) is a great example; the card slots perfectly into the currently popular Marshall.D.Teach (OP09-081) strategy as a means the recycle your best Blackbeard Pirates. I'd expect to see plenty of the card throughout any event where the deck is popular.

It's a similar story for cards like Trafalgar Law (OP10-119) and Cavendish (OP10-045). These characters are in a phenomenal position if Eustass "Captain" Kid (OP10-099), Enel (OP05-098), Nami (OP03-040), or Usopp (OP10-042) find ground at the tournament tables, but likely fall off in popularity if they don't. That doesn't mean they're bad — just that they're poorly positioned at the moment.

There's certainly a handful of cards that break that mold, though. Tony Tony. Chopper (OP10-011) is just really good, but it also slots perfectly into Smoker (OP10-001) and Shanks (OP09-001); two decks I'd expect to remain popular for a long time to come. I feel similarly about Smoker (OP10-030), who will immediately slot into my Jewelry Bonney (OP07-019) decklist and most other green leaders as a four of.

Closing Thoughts on Royal Blood (OP-10)

Royal Blood (OP-10) looks to continue the revolution brought on by Emperors in the New World. All the leaders seem great, the collectibles are exciting, and the metagame is getting a much-needed facelift. The only thing left for me to decide is how many boxes I'm buying...
