The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide For One Piece TCG Fans (2024)

I know there's a joke out there somewhere about Tony Tony Chopper preparing to guide the sleigh tonight but I'm not quite putting it together… Thankfully, the festive period isn't quite as reliant on our reindeer friend as the rest of the Straw Hat crew.
That's right, 2024 is almost over and Christmas is just around the corner. As much as I love frost-tinted windows and steaming mugs of hot chocolate, the holiday season is a bit of a double-edged sword for the average TCG enthusiast. Everybody wants a blissful morning spent unwrapping cardboard squares but there's always that looming fear that no one in your family actually understands what you do. What exactly did they buy for you and why is it shaped like a sock?
If you're the unfortunate soul on the opposite end of that equation, fear not – you don't need to be responsible for ruining Christmas just because you don't know what a "Nami" is. Today, I'm breaking down all the things I'll be unapologetically buying for myself under the guise of a holiday gift guide here on TCGplayer. We'll be going through a selection of new player friendly presents, some budget savvy stocking fillers and a handful of safe picks if your only goal is not to disappoint. Finally, we'll be wrapping up with the perfect high-end gift for a special someone that's gone above and beyond this year.
Before we begin, a friendly reminder: The One Piece TCG is incredibly hot right now. Everybody wants it. We often see new releases selling out before we've even had a chance to blink. As tough as it can be to find any particular item, vendors are constantly uploading restocks across the marketplace, so keep your eyes peeled and consider acting quickly if there's something you're desperate to secure - especially if you're going bargain hunting this Cyber Monday.
With that said, let's go treasure hunting!
Beginner Friendly
While it may be a veteran anime at this point, the One Piece TCG is considerably younger than its counterpart; celebrating its second anniversary outside of Japan on December 2. That means there's not a huge wealth of products to choose from if you're looking for a gift, but there's also significantly less "wrong" purchases to be made too. Everything is reasonably new (and the older stuff is arguably more coveted) so it's hard to go too far wrong.
That said, Starter Deck products do exist and they're aptly named – providing the perfect building blocks to any new player for between $15 and $20
There's currently 20 of them, each designed to be of an appropriate power level to play against each other straight out of the box. Particularly like two of the characters from the anime? Sweet. Grab them both and get to smashin'.
If you're buying for a competitively minded player, Starter Deck 14 – 3D2Y and Starter Deck 17: Blue Donquixote Doflamingo are the biggest budget-friendly standouts, each providing a solid foundation for one of the better decks in the current format. The latter even comes with a free booster of PRB-01 tucked inside for a Christmas morning surprise!
Budget-Friendly Stocking Fillers
As much as I don't want sock-shaped presents, I'm more than happy to find presents inside of a sock. TCGs are absolutely fantastic for this because they're flush with small trinkets that're easy to wrap and give plenty of bang for your buck.
Booster Packs
Always a safe choice, grabbing a booster or three is a surefire way to put smiles on faces. Booster packs are always randomized so you'll never be completely sure what will be found within, but that outside chance at a jawdropping Manga Rare or highly coveted alt-art is a gift unto itself.
If you know nothing about your giftee's preferred leader, buying packs in the dark can be a little risky. Premium Booster – The Best is probably your best bet; it's a reprint set stuff with all kinds of goodies from across One Piece's first year so they're bound to score something they need. That seems like an easy win for roughly $5.
If you'd like to take a little risk, there's a brand new booster set releasing on December 13. It's called OP09 – Emperors In The New World and looks to be extremely popular with the player base. Preordering some boosters of this set will not only land well with your giftee but will generate a little more surprise when they see them for the first time too. Personally, I think that's worth the hassle.

The Devil Fruit collection products are some of my favorite releases in One Piece and I think Bandai have scored a home run by releasing one just before the holidays. Devil Fruits Collection: Volume 2 contains a plastic devil fruit storage case, one of two product exclusive DON!!! cards, corresponding sleeves and three packs of OP08 – Two Legends. That's a nice little package for $40.

If you prefer something with a little more vintage, Volume 1 can also be found for roughly the same price (or significantly less with a little luck) and tags out OP08 for some packs of OP03 and OP04 instead. Either way, these offer a very cool display piece and the mandatory pack-cracking experience in one tidy purchase and that feels like a bargain.
Art Sleeves
Bandai do a stellar job at producing stylish accessories for their card games – almost to a fault. The diverse range of art sleeves was my first pick for a stocking filler – but only if you know a little bit about the leader or characters that your giftee enjoys. If you don't, maybe try to find out by asking some absolutely-not-suspicious questions?
Some of my personal favorites include Gear 5 Luffy (Official Sleeve Assortment 4) and the clean black 10-pack featuring the official branding but there's a million and one different offerings on the market. They're the perfect accent to a DON!!! deck and range between $10 to $20 depending on featured characters and scarcity.
The Safe Picks
Sometimes, a present you know won't disappoint is more than enough when you know next to nothing about the hobby. There's nothing wrong with that – in fact, kudos to you for going out of your way to make sure you find something they'll love!
Booster Box
You just can't go wrong with 24 lovingly wrapped packs of cardboard. It's how I'd start every morning given the chance and I'm definitely hoping to find one nestled under my tree.

As previously mentioned, there's no wrong choices here – everything is kinda great. In terms of safety, PRB-001 – The Best and OP09 – Emperors In The New World stand out from the crowd by offering the widest appeal and being brand new. Either box will set you back roughly $140 and stand to be a surefire hit with any One Piece enthusiast.
Besides, a full box is much easier to wrap than a handful of boosters. I would know. I suck at wrapping gifts.
Premium Card Collection – Best Selection Volume 2
Another product that appears to be a yearly release for Bandai, the Premium Card Collection is designed to offer alternative art, blinged out treatments for 12 of the most played and highly coveted cards in all of One Piece. This set is bound to be a smash hit with both players looking to personalize their decks and collectors looking for something that displays well!

They're also priced not to break the bank - $35 is a great price for a product with long-term collectability and current demand. There's been a slight delay in getting these to retailers but they're due to arrive throughout November and I expect them to quickly be snapped up as they do so.
Gift Cards
The safest option of all. Gift cards offer a method for your favorite One Piece player to grab those all-important missing cards regardless of your level of knowledge. They're also perfect for covering the expenses incurred in picking up the various bells and whistles needed to play card games. That makes gift cards a savvy choice for the deeply enfranchised player who just seems to have it all - it just means they'll be getting exactly what they want. On TCGplayer, our prices start from as little as $25 and the card is applicable site-wide, so there's no risk of getting it wrong!
Something Special
Alright, I get it. You're looking for an all-star gift that's bound to blow somebody's mind. There's a hefty budget and you're willing to camp out virtually if it means success. First of all, where do I find more friends like you?!
…But yeah, don't worry. I've got just the thing.

The original celebration product, this gift set released to a ton of fanfare last year as the One Piece TCG turned a year old. They're extremely difficult to find but offer an unpresented vibe that says "I was here from the start. This is my game"
Packed with ukiyo-e redesigns for iconic members of the Straw Hat crew, a gorgeous playmat and product exclusive art sleeves and playmat, there's no player alive who wouldn't love to own one of these given the chance. They pop up periodically for roughly $180 but never stick around to tell you about it.

The product that started it all. Romance Dawn launched One Piece. It's responsible for the game so many have grown to love. The problem? Most players never had the luxury of opening any of it because it immediately sold out everywhere.

Eventually, a reprint came – but that sold out too! Now, you'll only find sealed boxes on the secondary market and they do not come cheap. A sealed box from Wave 2 (the reprint version with a white bottom) will set you back $220. The original print with the blue bottom? Nearly $1000!
That's eyewatering… but it's the price you must pay to secure a piece of history. Wave 1 is the only place you can find those pre-errata versions of the first ever balance updates and they're bound to be a collector's item for all of time. If you really want to make someone's year, this is the ultimate gift.
Closing Thoughts
I feel like this year has gone by so fast, but maybe that's because I've found One Piece to be so much fun. If there's a similar story in your life, I hope this gift guide has helped you find the perfect present for them.

But until next time,

Happy Holidays!
