The Most Wanted Cards from One Piece Premium Booster The Best

The Most Wanted Cards from One Piece Premium Booster The Best

As a relative newcomer to the One Piece TCG, I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the first premium booster since I first heard what's lurking inside. I missed the boat on everything prior to OP-07, which often leaves me laboriously watching for older set staples appearing at a good price if I want to play my preferred deck of choice. That's been somewhat demoralizing – but it's an issue that'll face new players no longer.

PRB-01 (also called One Piece Card The Best) is a dedicated reprint set featuring nearly all the biggest haymakers from OP-01 to OP-06 alongside a selection of returning events promo cards. Each and every pack is guaranteed a Secret Rare, a Rare, a DON!! and two Jolly Roger stamped foils. This is fantastic to see as the game was sorely lacking in ways for newer players to get in on the ground and for enfranchised gamers to round out their collections on a budget.

But what if your collection is mostly complete? Is PRB-01 a set you still need to pay attention to? Well… yes, actually. For a number of great reasons.

First, there's a brand new leader featured as the headliner for the set that offers a new way to play some of your favorite cards. Sanji PRB01-001 is one of the most iconic characters in all of One Piece and stands to make a splash by offering a never-ending supply of Rush. Turns out, well-fed colleagues do in fact work faster, and Sanji will have opponents under so much pressure they'll be floundering for +2000 counters. No rested character can ever feel truly safe again while Sanji is threatening immediate removal from hand.

That's far from everything, though. PRB-01 really does go out of its way to earn that "premium" tagline. This set is stuffed with alternative treatments for many of the most played cards in the game, including new jaw dropping full-arts for cards like Izo (OP01-033 FULL ART) and Gecko Moria (OP06-086 FULL ART). It's also packed flush with highly coveted, long awaited reprints of original manga rares like Nami (OP01-016) and Monkey.D.Luffy (OP05-119). These have been holy grail cards for large parts of the community since their original printing so it's lovely to see them back!

But there's one more special gift waiting for those dedicated few willing to go digging for treasure in the literal sense. PRB-001 contains a new selection of gold bordered, foiled and embossed DON!! cards heavily themed around iconic characters and popular leaders. Getting a full set of these will likely prove very difficult but provides an unquestionable way to both customize your deck and prove your loyalty to your leader of choice.

With so little of the product currently available, it's hard to put an accurate gauge on what you should be hoping for most when you get stuck into PRB-01 – but there's plenty of bangers inside that I'm looking for, so let's break them down!

The best black cantrip character feels like he's been slowly sneaking up in price since his initial release in Paramount War, but a metagame overwhelmingly occupied by Black Yellow Luffy and Black Lucci have kept the card steady at $12.50 for quite some time. That's a hefty ask for the base version of a Super Rare, so I'm glad to see Kuzan finding the reprint here.

On top of that, the card only had one readily available alternative art until now (yes, the 2023 Championship promo looks absurdly cool but lord knows I'm not getting those) so another certainly doesn't go amiss. The darkened starry background really makes that white suit pop and I know I'll be hunting for these in and around $50 myself.

[Activate:Main] You may trash 1 card from your hand and rest this Stage: Look at 3 cards from the top of your deck; reveal up to 1 card with a type including "GERMA" and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

A purely subjective category in a most wanted article? Yeah, I just couldn't resist the urge to show off how slick some of these new treatments are. Kingdom of Germa isn't exactly the most in-demand stage right now but this artwork is miles and away so much better than the original in the eyes of little ol' me. Be sure to take the time to dig through the full set list to find your new favorite!

That's right, they're real. There's a very, very small chance that any given booster of PRB-01 you crack open contains ALL 10 Manga Alt Arts otherwise found in the set. Yep, that includes Nami (OP01-016), Sabo (OP04-083), Portgas.D.Ace (OP02-013) and the infamous Gear 5 Monkey.D.Luffy found in OP05. That'd be roughly a $9,000 booster pack. How does that sound?

God packs are the coolest thing. They create memories that last beyond just opening a product. I've yet to even seen one opened in person and I dream at the idea of doing so. More of this please!

Speaking of the bouncy bumbling menace, this particular purple shade of Luffy has ruled the roost as the most expensive card you could theoretically open in a booster pack since it was released. At time of writing, copies on TCGplayer are around a whopping $1,500!

I don't see it remaining that high as a few more sellers entertaining parting with their biggest draw, but I don't see a world where this card doesn't hold a value of thousands of dollars. If you see that smoky silver manga page at the back of your pack, you've struck gold!

Speaking of gold, these DON!! are the most volatile part of PRB-01 and easily my favorite thing about the set. Specialist DON!! cards are always highly coveted when they release (as we saw with the premium Storage x DON!! set back in 2022) because they're always in play every game – you always get to look at them! I expect these to even more popular than previous offerings because diehard fans will want 10 copies to finish out the aesthetic of their leader. These will all be incredible to open, but which gets the nod as the best?

I've giving that accolade to the Zoro offering. An iconic character with a playable leader, this DON!! was preordering for nearly $250 each as soon as players knew it existed. The sword strokes look incredible and the Japanese etchings tie the whole image together perfectly.

Closing Thoughts

PRB-01 is the type of product I'm regularly clamoring for every card game to make; copious reprints, new artwork and a way to appeal to invested players at the same time. I hope this is the first of many premium pack offerings because I don't expect to find these on shelves for very long!

But what do you think? Is there something else you're particularly hoping to find? Give me a nudge at @HowlingMines over on Twitter/X to let me know! Alternatively, give my other work here on TCGplayer a read for another slice of card game content.

But until next time,

I've been HowlingMines, you've been amazing!

Stay safe out there!
