The Most Valuable Manga Rares in One Piece Card Game, May 2025

These One Piece cards are hella expensive!

Manga Rare cards are some of — if not the most desirable — cards in the One Piece Card Game. The pull rates on them are so scarce that there isn't an actual ratio to know how many boxes you'd need to open to acquire one.

Except for a few sets, each set has one singular Manga Rare card. There are a few sets with multiples, such as Emperors in the New World (OP-09), Awakening of a New Era (OP-05), and Premium Booster: The Best (PRB-01). But for the most part, each set only has one Manga Rare card.

These stunning Manga Rare cards vary in price, with the cheapest Manga Rare card sitting around the $300 mark in Sogeking. The fact that this card is sitting around the $250 at market price while still being a Manga Rare and one of the more playable cards in Blue Nami decks is wild to me! Admittedly, this feels like a card that should be more than it is (but that might just be me).

Anyway! Our goal is to look at the most valuable Manga Rare cards in the game, so let's get to it! We'll include Extra Booster: Anime 25th Collection (EB-02) and take all the reprinted Manga Rares from Premium Booster: The Best (PRB-01) and lump them in with their original printings!

First up is a super playable and popular character, the first of The Four Emperors that we'll be talking about today: Red-Haired Shanks.

This card is one of the five Manga Rare cards to come out of Emperors of the New World (OP-09), and of those five Manga Rares, four of them are on this list — which is kind of wild to me. Now, this Shanks card is super cool because it is a staple in the Red Shanks that has been seeing a ton of tournament success. With that, it makes sense that this Manga Rare is a little more expensive than others, even though it is still relatively new.

Now, we have our first card from Awakening of a New Era (OP-05), the former Warlord of the Sea, Captain of the Heart Pirates, Trafalgar Law.

Law is another fan-favorite character, and his first Manga Rare is genuinely so cool looking because it features panels that focus on his development during the Dressrosa Arc of the story. Both the original and the reprint of this Manga Rare are super spendy, with the cheaper one being around $700 right now! The original still has a couple of listings around the $700 mark before it starts hitting the quadruple digits.

That's right, potential quadruple-digit cards — out of One Piece Card Game Boosters! Now, we're in the big leagues here.

After Trafalgar Law comes the right-hand man of the future Pirate King and the King of Hell himself, Roronoa Zoro.

This card is absolutely gorgeous. The manga panels showcase some of the best Zoro moments from the series, while the artwork in the foreground highlights Zoro during his incredible fight with King of the Beast Pirates. Zoro and is one of the most popular characters in all of One Piece, so it does make sense that his Manga Rare card is pushing $700 right now.

The cutest member of the Straw Hat crew marks out a third of the way (just barely), so let's talk about Tony Tony.Chopper from Extra Booster: Memorial Collection (EB-01)!

Tony Tony.Chopper is one of the Manga Rares where it really makes sense how incredible the price tag is. Chopper is one of the most popular members of the Straw Hat Crew, so having a chase rarity of one of his cards just makes sense. Extra Booster: Memorial Collection (EB-01) was a relatively short printed set, so there are theoretically fewer Chopper Manga Rares floating around compared to other sets. That extra scarcity makes this card even more expensive for both printings of it!

Marketplace price trend

After Shanks, we have another one of the Four Emperors, the notorious captain of the Blackbeard Pirates, Marshall.D.Teach.

Similar to Shanks (OP-09), Teach is one of the more expensive Manga Rares despite being new. The primary reason is that this card is one of the most important cards in the Blackbeard Pirates deck. As the primary card representing Teach, you have a powerful ten-cost character that is also a Blocker? It is super good and super annoying to deal with.

The original Manga Rare card is up next! It is another Shanks card, but this time, we're talking about the one from Romance Dawn (OP-01)!

I feel like this one doesn't need much of an explanation. We're talking about the biggest chase card from the first set of the One Piece Card Game. Similarly, this is like trying to explain why Shadowless 1st Ed Charizard is the most expensive card from the Pokémon Base Set.

Oddly enough, with Shanks (OP-01), the Premium Booster: The Best (PRB-01) reprint is about half the price of the original, which feels wrong to me.

[On Play] You may return 1 or more DON!! cards from your field to your DON!! deck: Draw 1 card and this Character gains [Rush] during this turn.

Marketplace price trend

Let's talk about my main man, Monkey.D.Luffy! This man rose to fame in just a few years as a pirate and is now one of the Four Emperors of the Sea? It makes total sense to me. The cover Manga Rare for Emperors of the New World (OP-09) isn't a Four Emperors card, oddly enough.

This card is super cool looking because it is all about Luffy during his fight with Kaido, with the pure confidence he had going into that battle. It also highlights Luffy right as he gathers a better understanding of how to control his Advanced Conqueror's Haki so that he can really start to make some dents against Kaido.

Like I said before, this card is the cover art for the set it's released in. While this may not seem like a huge deal, they have such a notable impact on the price of cards over time. The fact that this Monkey.D.Luffy is also playable makes it even more expensive because there are Purple Luffy players that I've seen slap this card down onto the field, and it's very cool to see.

Breaking into the top three is another Luffy card appearing in the recent Extra Booster: Anime 25th Collection and portrays the most iconic pose in all of One Piece history. Sure, Gear 5 is still making waves (as we'll discuss very soon), but the panel used in Monkey.D.Luffy (061) paved the way for how massive the One Piece franchise is today.

Currently settling around $1000, expect this Luffy Manga Rare to fluctuate with the recent release of Extra Booster: Anime 25th Collection, but this is still an incredible pull nonetheless!

Now, we have the two most valuable Manga Rares in the game, and these are cards that caused their respective sets to sell like crazy. First up is Gear 5 Luffy from Awakening of a New Era (OP-05), and this was the moment that broke the internet when the anime first aired, with the appearance of Luffy's awakened Devil Fruit.

These are currently sitting around the $2,500 mark and stabilizing. This variant of Luffy is easily one of the most expensive One Piece cards you can pull from a singular booster, and it gets better if you manage to pull a God Pack from Premium Booster: The Best (PRB-01) since you'll get one of every Manga Rare up to Extra Booster: Memorial Collection (EB-01). I don't see a world where the Gear 5 Luffy Manga Rare drops in value, even with the updated variants coming out in A Fist of Divine Speed (OP-11) next month. This card is expensive and will be for quite some time.

Finally, the most valuable Manga Rare is the gold card that features the King of the Pirates himself, none other than Gol.D.Roger!

Gol.D.Roger was the legendary King of the Pirates and the first pirate to navigate the entire Grand Line in the series. Understandably, his featured Manga Rare card would be as expensive as it is, pushing right around the $3,200 mark. I don't think I've ever seen someone play this card in Shanks, but I also wouldn't be surprised if people were playing their Manga Rare Rogers. This is one of those few Manga Rare cards that even players would set aside and never throw into a deck because of how valuable it is.

Manga Rares are pretty neat, that's for sure. Having such an exclusive rarity of cards is a lovely addition to the One Piece Card Game because it adds a collector's aspect to help complement the anime and manga. There isn't really a ratio of how likely you are to pull one compared to the chase cards in other card games, and because of this, it is always worth opening boxes! The only time you don't really want to open a box is if you know it came from a case with a Manga Rare already pulled from it — but that rarely happens, so go for it!

Have you pulled any Manga Rares? If you did, I certainly hope that card ended up in a sleeve (and maybe a toploader) immediately!
