The 10 Cards Everybody Wants from Legacy of the Master (OP12)

The 10 Cards Everybody Wants from Legacy of the Master (OP12)

Legacy of the Master is right around the corner! With prerelease events coming to a close, pirates everywhere are scrounging together all the new cards they need for their One Piece TCG collections.

There are a ton of cards in this set, and so many of them are going to be big hitters once the set officially drops. Today, we are going to be looking at some of the most hyped up cards leading into the release of Legacy of the Master (OP12).

These lists just wouldn't be complete without some sort of fancy Luffy card, right?

Monkey.D.Luffy OP12-015 is going to be strong for Red decks—especially the new Silvers Rayleigh decks, which already want to run tons of events. But the thing that makes it even better is that BOTH artworks on the card are super nice. Both versions show the iconic Luffy just as he arrives back in the Sabaody Archipelago, ready to reunite with his crew after two years of training. The regular artwork of this card is amazing, as it depicts the iconic scene of Luffy dodging a laser blast from a Pacifista as if it were nothing.

Playability plus great artwork is going to be huge, especially with the Silvers Rayleigh Leader looking to be one of the stronger decks to come out of the OP12 metagame.

Who doesn't love a good Perona card? The new Green Perona is awesome and has a stunning alternate art with an adorable regular art.

This card is going to be huge for both collectors and players alike. With the new Green Zoro deck anticipated to be the best deck out of OP12, the new Green searcher card is going to be important. When you slap that searching effect onto a fan-favorite female character? It isn't even a question of whether this card will be popular or not.

In terms of playability, this card lets you search for any Slash Attribute card or a Green Event card when you play it. The new Zoro deck is all green and has a bunch of Slash Attribute cards. So… search your deck for anything, pretty much. Kinda nice.

Speaking of searchers, the Empress of Amazon Lily Boa Hancock is going to be one of the most sought-after cards from this set.

Both artworks have Boa showing off her powerful kicks, which are her main way of fighting when she isn't using her Love-Love Fruit. With Boa being such a popular character, collectors will be clamoring to get their hands on this awesome card.

The best part is that this Boa Hancock will also be playable! She has a similar effect to the Perona we just talked about, but Boa can either grab a Monkey.D.Luffy or a Red Event instead—ideal for Silvers decks.

#7 Dracule Mihawk OP12-030

Dracule Mihawk always shows up with that aura of "don't mess with me." The most powerful swordsman in the world is also one of the most powerful characters in this set. This card really lives up to Mihawk's reputation.

Mihawk is another one of those really popular characters, so it is easy to understand why so many people would want Mihawk cards. This card is just as playable as all the other cards we've talked about so far. You have an 8-cost, 8000 power Blocker that sets up to 4 of your Don!! cards as active so you can attach them to Roronoa Zoro OP12-020 and get his bonus attack. This is a crazy strong effect that makes Dracule Mihawk one of the most powerful cards in the set.

Fans of the anime have recently gained a newfound appreciation for the tyrant Bartholomew Kuma, a member of the Revolutionary Army who is also one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Most importantly, he is the best damn dad in the whole series. I don't care what anyone says. Fight me.

This is the first time we've had a Kuma card that was a secret rare, opposite the Jewelry Bonney secret rare in the set. Both cards are thematically fitting to be secrets, but this card is far superior to the Bonney secret. It has the potential to add two extra cards to your Life, which is crazy considering all the life manipulation that Yellow decks are known for.

As one of the two female members of the Straw Hat Pirates, Nico Robin is an absolute fan-favorite (as well as one of the coolest characters in all of One Piece). So any card featuring her is always going to be a must-have for collectors.

Both versions of Nico Robin OP12-087 show off Robin right as she returns from the time skip, having just spent the last two years training with the Revolutionary Army. Her effect gives her Blocker if either Koala or Luffy is your Leader, and she has a powerful effect when she is played onto the field as well.

Now we're officially in the top half. These are the cards that people will continue to chase after Legacy of the Master (OP12) has been released, because they're even harder to pull than secret rares. What better way to start than with the two alternate-art Event cards!

Boeuf Burst and Demon Aura Nine Sword Style Asura Blades Drawn Dead Man's Game (that's a mouthful) are the two Event cards that were picked to have alternate arts in this set. Both events are named after the signature attacks for Sanji and Zoro, respectively. Zoro's attack (I'm just going to call it "Dead Man's Game"), is a really strong card and depicts the scene where Zoro was able to cut open the Emperor of the Sea, Kaido. Boeuf Burst has Sanji's final attack on Queen during the Raid on Onigashima.

Currently, Dead Man's Game is fetching about twice the price of Boeuf Burst in anticipation of its use in the new Zoro deck. Whether it goes up in price or drops down to meet its counterpart remains to be seen.

#3 Alternate-Art Leaders

The new Leader cards are an essential part of any One Piece TCG set. All six of these alternate-art Leaders are awesome, with each one featuring a student and a master.

Thanks to the OP12 metagame in Japan, we have a rough idea of which leaders will be more competitive—and therefore, more expensive. Koala, Kuzan, Rosinante, and Sanji are currently the cheaper Leaders, while Silvers Rayleigh and Roronoa Zoro are the two most expensive Leaders in the set.

As usual, the six SP cards in Legacy of the Master (OP12) are reprints of cards from other sets with brand-new artwork. The coolest part about each one of them is that their color schemes match their in-game color! The purple Zoro-Juurou, black Kuzan, and Yellow Portgas.D.Ace really highlight this with their absolutely gorgeous artworks.

#1 Manga and Anniversary Rares

As always, we have the manga rare: Jewelry Bonney! This card is amazing as we get to see Bonney proudly jumping forward, realizing the future that lies in front of her as she escapes from the World Government's surveillance. In the backdrop, we see various manga panels showing Bonney's experiences during the Kuma flashback and the Egghead incident.

Normally, the one manga rare is the most expensive card in a One Piece set—but in OP12, we have three of them! The silver and gold anniversary prints of Blackbeard are the two most expensive cards in Legacy of the Master (OP12) and easily the cards that everyone will want to get their hands on. These cards look absolutely amazing, and if you see one in your packs, make sure it makes its way straight into a sleeve immediately!

With the release of Legacy of the Master (OP12) just a few days away, people are getting ready to crack open this awesome new set. Collectors and players are gearing up to pick up some of these awesome new cards to add to their collections and decks. I know I'm super excited, and can't wait to open up some new packs!
